The Renaissance Social is a networking group created by three Detroit natives — Cierra Hudgins, Jerrica Moss, and Shaniqua Richardson — in an effort to uplift and empower the community through social experiences. After obtaining their respective degrees from Michigan State University, the trio felt they had something special to offer. As a result, they created The Renaissance Social.
The creators of this innovative networking group like to refer to their movement as the rebirth of social connections. The Renaissance Social was created to connect entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs, professionals and the community at large. One of their goals is actually to eliminate the negative stigma attached to the term “networking”. They want to portray how networking events aren’t always about suits and ties, but creating a fun and positive environment for millennials to connect.
On July 1st The Renaissance Social held its first event, “The Intro” at D Loft downtown Detroit. “The Intro” was an introduction to the trio’s vision. The event was sponsored by The Renaissance Social, Enjoy Detroit, Grid Iron Tacos, and Culture Crew. Throughout the night people exchanged business cards/ social media info, played Social Jenga, and engaged in sparkling conversations over Grid Iron’s delicious tacos. After the event, social media comments were left explaining the many connections that were made along with an eagerness to know when the next event will be held. The Renaissance Social is excited to bring these new social experiences to Detroit. The events are held quarterly with the next one scheduled to take place some time in the Fall. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted.
