The month of May has been a very busy fashion month from the red carpet of the Met Gala to quiet elegance of
Windsor Castle providing a subtle processional of the most fashionable who attended the Royal Wedding. But on May 3,
2018, Karl Lagerfeld, presented his 2018-2019 Cruise collection for the House of CHANEL in one his most grandiose
productions to date.
The Setting
A beautiful replica of an Ocean liner called “La Pausa”, named after Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s villa in the South of
France. The scene complete with a captain & crew all created in the Grand Palais in Paris, France. The House of CHANEL,
under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld has produced some of the most elaborate productions in which to showcase the
latest CHANEL Collections and the Cruise 2018-2019 collection did not disappoint!!

The Models

High profile models Bella Hadid, Adut Akech & Gigi Hadid were among the many fabulous faces who strutted down the
runway to the House Music classic “The Whistle Song” by Frankie Knuckles. Judging by the music this show could have
easily turned into a party.

The Looks

As a lover of all things CHANEL, the 2018-2019 Cruise Collection didn’t disappoint. The collection featured common
themes that included white and navy stripes, berets, and straw hats perfect for your next getaway to the French Riviera
or wherever your next resort destination takes you. True to the CHANEL heritage were the traditional signature tweed
skirt suits and dresses. The most intriguing fact about the collection was that almost every look was worn with a pair of
white tights. In many fashion circle’s the white tight was like a fashion faux pas, reserved only for little girls in their
Sunday best.

Not one to stand firmly on tradition the CHANEL collection also explored its wilder side of the ubiquitous streetwear
trend with items including shredded jeans, leather shorts with a frayed denim hem and tracksuits gussied up in the
manner of its traditional tweed suits. The collection strayed into “Disco” territory with tongue-in-cheek outfits like a red
lamé leather jacket and pants, and sheer black rhinestone-dotted harem pants. I’m seeing a Studio 54 themed cruise in
my head.

I don’t know about you but I’m ready set sail aboard the “La Pausa” to destinations unknown for a Fabulous adventure.
The CHANEL Cruise Collection will be in boutiques beginning November 2018 just in time for those holiday travels. For
