Saks Fifth Avenue Presents “The It List”: What We Love This Spring
V Lynne Smith
What’s on your fashion “It List” for Spring? What you don’t have an “It List”? Not to worry Saks Fifth Avenue has created the consummate fashion “It List” for this year’s Spring season. From the perfect trench for those April showers to that amazing slide mule for a casual Saturday afternoon, there’s something for just about everyone.
I had the extreme pleasure of attending a presentation by Kelsey Lyle, Editor at Saks Fifth Avenue, with Maureen Conway, Marketing Director for Saks Fifth Avenue serving as our very gracious hostesses. The fabulous fashions presented on this evening will quickly become the most sought after items for the spring season. As guest sipped champagne and enjoyed delightful hors d’oeuvresthey also had the opportunity to receive makeovers from the Dior Team headed by National Makeup Artist for Dior, Jeffrey Sanchez.Team Dior gave the ladies in attendance expert advice on a few of the most common makeup concerns, including how to get the perfect brow with products from the wonderful world of Dior.
Ruffles, feathers, patterns, florals and metallics are just a few of the things on Saks “It List”. Embellishments are also the rule for Spring. Shoes, handbags and clothing will have an extra touch of bling! Designers at Gucci, Prada, Jimmy Choo, and Dior are adding a little sparkle and shine. You can never have too much sparkle in my humble opinion.
Statement dressing is a breeze when pair one statement piece with a basic item such a crisp white shirt or a tailored skirt. Don’t be afraid to mix your vertical and horizontal stripes and pair them with other patterns. Feathers on a bag, shoe or sweater will give it a more luxurious feel. So here’s what Saks loves about Springand I think you will too. I know I do!!
Trench Dressing takes a whimsical turn with this Prada trench with leather cuffs and ostrich feathers. This coat will certainly have you feeling the sunshine in the midst of the rain.
Prada’s pants are trimmed with a flourish of feathers at the cuffs. Made from crepe de chine, this printed pair has a high-rise waist and straight-leg silhouette. Paired here with an off the shoulder cotton shirt for a little sultry appeal.
One of my absolute favorite looks was this Brunello Cucinelli metallic lambskin bomber jacket in silver paired with this statement silver feathered skirt. This bomber jacket that has been updated for a more current look and feel. Heads will turn when you walk into the room, in a very good way.
This is just a peek at what’s on Saks “It List” for Spring. So what will you love about Spring? Will you step out of your comfort zone and try mixing patterns or will opt for feathers on your next handbag? Whatever you choose remember to have fun with fashion and experiment just a little. As Kate Spade once said “Playing dress-up begins at age 5, and never really ends”.
