Detroit native-turned-New Yorker J. Cobb celebrated the release of his Chaz Conley-produced single “Promise” this week with a lively lyric video on YouTube, which features visuals shot from the two cities. The young songwriter’s latest work was featured alongside the likes of Eminem, E-40 and Jeremih in last week’s Music Video Roundup, and his music has been featured on blogs nationwide since last Fall.

With “Promise”, J. Cobb speaks on building his own vision authentically. This anthem for succeeding and shining light on the non-believers is perfect for establishing new goals. In line with his lofty objectives, J recently spoke with McDonald’s newly launched podcast about his vision and motivation, which you can listen to here:

“Promise” is currently available on all major music platforms via this link:, and J. Cobb hopes that people will feel the emotionally-charged energy he is bringing.

“This song is for everyone trying to take a brick from my building in hopes of selling it back to me,” explains J. Cobb. “It’s for anyone risking it all to build something they believe in—for those people leaving a negative situation in hopes for a better future. This song is intended to give you strength, while allowing you to feel those feelings of anger and lack of direction.”
