By August 16, 2018 No Comments

Kudos to jazz singer Kimmie Horne who hosted a very successful music fest during the weekend with more than 10,000 people in attendance at the Southfield Municipal Campus. The Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival, sponsored by Varsity Lincoln, featured splendid performances from Straight Ahead, Kathy Kosins, Penny Wells, Shelia Landis, Tricia Jones, Amy Lee, music director Al McKenzie, with an amazing finale by Kimmie herself. There was a very tender moment when Kimmie came out into the audience and dedicated a song to her mom, Kay Finley. Legendary jazz singer Ursula Walker was presented with the Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and all proceeds from the event were donated to The Ronald McDonald House Detroit.
