You’ve surely seen actress Jenifer Lewis portraying somebody’s mama on TV or in a full-length feature film (she has more than 60 films and 300 TV appearances to her credit). On May 12, Lewis will be at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, sharing love and laughs with an intimate glimpse into her legendary life. Guests will receive a copy of her book, “The Mother of Black Hollywood,” as well as a photo with the delightful actress. “Detroit, you better show up and show out, because I know I am,” the actress announced in a video. Tickets are $60 and proceeds will support Community Health Awareness Group, a premier African-American organization dedicated to HIV prevention and care based in Detroit. Tickets are available at Eventbrite.
