Graham Beck NV Sparkling Wine
OK…let’s get this straight right now. I adore Champagne. A 1998 Krug Clos d’Ambonnay Brut? A 2004 La Grande Dame? A 2002 Salon?
Well, yes, please!
But with price points resting on the rooftop, the days of drinking my favorites with wild and unfettered abandon are, sadly, history. And yet, my angels, all is not lost! A series of Kismet-like encounters has drawn me to a beautiful South African sparkling wine. You know we can’t refer to it as Champagne because the grapes are not grown in the region, but haughty semantics aside, Graham Beck NV Brut Sparkling Wine is lovely!
With a very pretty nose of citrus and flowers, nestled in creamy toast, Graham Beck will have you drinking stars instead of seeing them! If that weren’t enough, it cruises in at 15 bucks a bottle!!! No, your eyes do not deceive you…I said $15.00!!! Even less if you happen to be in Chicago. There’s a South African Embassy there, and that probably has something to do with it, but who cares at this price? Finding it here is a bit more challenging, but fear not! I called Kim, my BFF at Cost Plus down in the Eastern Market, and she sourced a few cases.
If you love Champagne, don’t tarry, the faeries are apt to spirit these bottles right back to
heaven. Bubble me up, Scotty!
