Remember little Elijah Johnson? He’s the talented Detroit native who played young Simba in “The Lion King” on Broadway and was a member of Kidz Bop. He’s not so little anymore. Now, at 19, he goes by the stage name E.J. and is the lead singer in the boy group Mindless Behavior. “The group is currently on hiatus, while we each work on solo projects,” E.J. says. For him, it’s an EP that he’s been working on for the last year and a half. Now ready to release the first single, E.J. turned to social media Wednesday to help him determine which of two songs gets the nod: “Release,” an up-tempo dance song, or “Love & Hate,” a slower, more traditional R&B cut. “The response has been overwhelming,” he says. And without a doubt, “Release” is the winner. You can expect the release of “Release” by the end of spring 2018.
