In honor of serving the community for 95 years, The Community House in Birmingham is recognizing that feat with several events throughout the year. On Saturday, folks at the nonprofit resource hosted its annual SIP event that features extraordinary culinary creations paired with wine and spirits.
More than 150 guests attended the event, enjoying cuisine from seven food stations manned by top area restaurants, including Hazel, Ravines & Downtown, Vinotecca, Joe Muer Seafood, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, Cameron’s Steakhouse, Eddie Merlot’s and a decadent dessert station from The Community House.
SIP is a wine-centric event, which means that each of these award-winning, fine-dining stations is paired to perfection with an incredible selection of wines carefully chosen by 2018 wine director John Jonna, who owns Vinotecca.
Some of the favorite servings included seared scallops from Cameron Steakhouse, Michigan rabbit from Vinotecca, tomahawk ribeye from Hyde Park, and Steak Diane en croute from Eddie Merlot’s.
There also was a luxury vodka bar sponsored by Zim’s Vodka, a raffle, a silent auction and live entertainment from the Dawn Giblin Quintet.
Tickets were $95 for young adults, $195 general ticket, and $295 patron ticket. Funds are still being collected, but the goal was to raise $25,000. Proceeds will benefit The Community House’s children programs and services.
